Explore the Arts Program at our Private School in Longmont, CO
Some students feel most like themselves when they’re drawing, painting, or making music. For others, the practice of art allows them a quiet space to think, to slow down, or to try something new without pressure.
At Longmont Christian School, we believe creativity is a gift from God. He didn’t just make things functional. He made a world full of beauty, detail, and color. When students engage in the arts, they reflect that same creative spirit. They begin to see the world differently, and often, they begin to see themselves differently too.
Creative Opportunities at Every Stage
From joyful finger painting in preschool to charcoal portraits and musical theater in middle school, the arts are part of everyday life at LCS. We introduce students to a wide range of media, tools, and creative experiences in a Christ-centered environment that celebrates growth, not perfection.
Preschool and Kindergarten
Students begin exploring color, texture, and sound through age-appropriate art and music activities. They learn through play, story, and song, building a foundation for creative expression and fine motor skills.
Elementary School (Grades 1–5)
Students enjoy weekly art and music classes where they work with a broad range of materials, such as:
Fourth and fifth graders also begin band, learning the basics of rhythm, breath, and collaboration.
Middle School (Grades 6–8)
Students can focus and improve their talents by choosing year-long electives in:
At every grade level, students are encouraged to take their creativity seriously because art can be more than a hobby. It can also be a way to grow in character, practice perseverance, serve others, and explore what God may be calling students to do.
Art at LCS is woven into the school community. You’ll see it in carnival face painting, handmade decorations for events, and connected to other subjects, such as graphic novels tied to literature or dioramas for science class.
Art That’s Hands-On, Publicly Celebrated, and Deeply Thoughtful

Real Tools for Real Artists
Our art room is well-stocked with all the supplies you’d expect, plus a kiln where students can create glazed pottery and ceramics. This hands-on experience helps students understand the full process of crafting with care, from shaping to firing.

From Hallways to Headlines
Middle school students recently brought their creativity into the spotlight by designing and painting a Warrior Geese sculpture. Their work was featured in the local newspaper and became a conversation piece for our community.

Art That Asks Big Questions
In one project, students chose a piece of historical art to study, recreate, and present. They explored the artist’s original message, how it fit into history, and how it connected with their own faith. By reflecting on why art is made, students understood scripture and self on a deeper level.
See the Arts in Action
