Middle School at Longmont Christian School

Grades 6-8

Middle school is where things start to shift. Your child is navigating tough questions, new friendships, and a growing desire for independence. It can be hard to know what kind of environment they need and even harder to find a place that feels steady during all of that change.

At Longmont Christian School, we understand how important these years are. That’s why we build our middle school around connection and purpose. Students dig into project-based learning as part of our challenging curriculum. They serve as reading buddies to kindergartners and begin to learn how to study scripture for themselves. In our sensory room, they get support when things feel heavy or hard.
Our teachers know how to walk beside students at this age. They create space for growth and celebrate that change also brings promise and possibility.

Building Character Through Connection and Christ

Middle schoolers are learning not just academically but also how to treat others, manage conflict, and live out their faith when no one’s watching. At Longmont Christian School, we teach good habits through a school culture that consistently points students back to Christ so that they graduate with a strong biblical worldview.

Practice Warrior Strength.

Warrior Strength stands for self-control, responsibility, excellence, God-honoring choices, tenacity, and a heart for service. We teach these character traits in lessons, name them in conversation, and celebrate them through our monthly awards.

Learn healthy responses to conflict.

With the help of our on-site counselor, students engage in bi-weekly social-emotional lessons that teach them how to navigate peer dynamics, express themselves well, and repair relationships with maturity and grace.

Lead through service.

Middle schoolers help lead chapel, plan all-school prayer sessions, and serve as prayer buddies to younger students. These moments remind them that their words and actions matter and that their example shapes the school’s culture.

Build lasting relationships.

Mentorship is woven into everyday life here. Teachers build strong relationships with students and stay connected through Bible study groups and staff-led lunch clubs. Monthly middle school socials offer another space for students to connect, unwind, and enjoy time together in a setting designed just for them.

“My experience was absolutely amazing! My daughter excelled and is growing mentally and spiritually. It brings me peace knowing she is safe and growing in all of the right ways. The teacher went above and beyond to meet my daughter where she was, and I am forever grateful for her ability to do that!”

– Diane Wilson, LCS Parent

What Makes Middle School at LCS Stand Out

Personalized Learning That Builds Confidence

Smaller class sizes allow teachers to truly see each student and create specialized learning plans, along with personalized learning plans for students who need accommodations. Lessons are adjusted in real time based on how students are engaging, and kids feel safe speaking up, trying again, and asking questions. This approach helps them build confidence not just in what they’re learning, but in how they learn best.

Leadership That Starts with Influence

In many schools, middle schoolers are still waiting for their turn to lead. That’s not the case at LCS. As the oldest students on campus, they set the tone. Younger students look up to them in the hallway, chapel, and playground, and our middle schoolers rise to meet that responsibility in ways that are both quiet and bold.

Electives That Grow Skills and Passion

Art, drama, Spanish, physical education, and our 8th-grade life skills class all offer hands-on ways to explore interests and build capability. Electives like band, photography, sign language, and creative writing help them discover and develop talents.

Clubs That Reflect Real Interests

From our “build a computer” club to our outdoor club, students are encouraged to bring their curiosity to life. They also explore interests through yearbook, Esports-ish, recess club, and student council. When they see something missing, they’re invited to help create it, often with a teacher coming alongside to guide and support.

Preparing for High School and Beyond

Middle schoolers are beginning to think about what’s next, whether they say it out loud or not. At LCS, we help students with the tools, habits, and self-awareness they need to step into high school with confidence.

Counselor-Led Goal Setting

Starting in 6th grade, students begin setting academic and personal goals with guidance from our full-time counselor. Using tracking tools and one-on-one check-ins, they learn how to evaluate progress, stay focused, and adjust when needed. As they get older, they start to manage that process more independently.

Life Skills and Career Awareness

Through an 8th-grade life skills course, students prepare for real-world responsibility. They learn how to sew, iron, interview, and even tie a tie. Our counselor also leads job-readiness sessions and coordinates visits to local high schools so students can explore future options.

A Safe Place to Learn and Grow

Middle school students need freedom with boundaries. At LCS, we provide both. Doors stay locked during the school day, and students are supervised throughout the building. Expectations are clearly communicated, and when discipline is needed, it’s handled with care and consistency. A counselor is available to help students navigate social dynamics and personal challenges, offering support in ways that feel natural and age-appropriate. Through it all, students are reminded that they’re not alone: God is present, and they are in a place that takes their well-being seriously.
