LCS School Board

Mark Shaefer - Member at Large

I was born in Oklahoma and was moved to Houston at an early age where I was raised. I received my Bachelors of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University in 1987.  I started my career in the Oil field in 1990 with a career lasting so far for 26 years in three States. I have been lucky enough to work in Alice, TX, Farmington, NM and here in Del Camino, Brighton, Evans and finally downtown Denver in various engineering and managerial roles for WCNA, Smith Energy Services, BJ Services and Anadarko Petroleum.

Our Family now consists of two wonderful kids: Taylor who is 22 and Zach who is 17. Both kids have attended Longmont Christian School from preK to High School. At LCS, Taylor played all three sports (Basketball, Volleyball and Soccer) and also participated in Drama, Student Government and Yearbook. Taylor is attending Grace University in Omaha, NE and is in her last year of the Elementary Education program. At Grace she went on to play 4 years on the Varsity Volleyball team with a nice scholarship. Zach is a senior LCS and is looking toward a future in college studying Biomedical Engineering. Zach has played for the varsity LCS Basketball team in his sophomore and junior years. He missed his freshmen year due to knee issues/surgery, but was able to help as a manager for Football. He has also played in the LCS Jazz Band for three years and has served as the V.P. on the LCS Student Government in his junior and senior classes.

Both Dana and I wouldn’t consider any other school in Longmont for our kids. From the first time we walked the halls at LCS, met the teachers and met the spiritual leader at LCS we were convinced that our kids needed to attend this School! Dana is currently giving back to LCS by teaching Calculus and Physics in the High School. The Lord tapped me on the shoulder and said that I also needed to be a bigger part of LCS so in the summer of 2015 I volunteered for an At-Large position on the LCS Board. I wanted to be part of an organization that could guide and insure that LCS had a long and rich future as the premier Longmont Christian based school that has Excellence in Academics, Biblical Truth and Service.
