LCPA Sub-Committee Contacts
2007-2008
LCPA Sub-Committees:
A variety of sub-committees reside under the LCPA umbrella. The role of each sub-committee is summarized below along with the volunteer opportunities that exist within each group. Please contact the noted committee lead if you have any questions or want to volunteer your services. Joining a sub-committee is a great way to meet other LCS families and to feel connected.
Monies earned from LCPA sponsored events go towards purchasing items that are needed by the teachers and classrooms but cannot be funded through the school’s operational budget.

ACSI (Association of Christian School International) Math Olympics is a math competition for students in grades 3 through 8. There are two categories: Arithmetic Computation and Mathematical Reasoning. Students are nominated by their teachers to take a grade appropriate test in December. Those tests are then sent to the ACSI office in Colorado Springs for grading. Students who score in the top 10 for our region (of six states) advance to this level.
Volunteers are needed to help monitor and time the school test in December. We are also asked to provide volunteers for the Regional Competition to be held in Loveland in March 2008.

Classroom coordinators support both a specific teacher and the LCPA Board in communicating with and organizing other parent volunteers for various activities.
Each classroom coordinator has specific support duties that vary depending on teacher and grade level. Examples of how teachers have utilized coordinators include: phone calls to parents, organizing volunteers for field trips, classroom activities, treats for parties, etc.
Classroom coordinators meet throughout the year to learn about upcoming LCPA events and to obtain details about efforts that may be required of them. Examples of events the LCPA sponsors and works with classroom coordinators to execute are: back-to-school activities, staff appreciation activities, food preparation, school fix-up days, open house activities, Field Day activities, etc. Typically 2-4 hours per month will be needed to support these activities.

The LCPA redeems these items twice a year and receives in return a check from these corporations. A volunteer is needed from each classroom to help trim, count and bundle coupons and labels for redemption. This usually can be done from home, making it a great activity for working parents.
