Welcome to the Longmont Christian School Fine Arts Department! We stand firmly on our school's mission statement, which is to be a community committed to excellence in Academics, Service, and Biblical Truth. We believe that an education in music and arts is essential to the development of well-rounded individuals capable of reaching the world for Christ. In their teaching, our instructors not only strive for excellence from students, but seek to instill a biblical worldview and a purpose through worship in their teaching.
All Elementary students will begin a foundation in general music for students in PreK3 through 5th grades. Each year, students participate in a range of performances including concerts, a musical, a talent show, and more. We stress an active approach to learning through the Kodaly Method, solfege, the Recorder Karate Program, singing, playing, listening, notation, and movement activities. Art is taught to all K-5 students, and their talent is showcased each year during the LCS Art Show. Band is taught to all students in 4th and 5th grades. At the Middle school and High school levels, students have opportunities to participate in Art, Band, Choir, and Drama.
At LCS, every student has an opportunity to grow artistically as they learn to bring glory to Christ through the creative process. Matthew 5:14-16 says,“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and then put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."
