Coach Anthony Barela

Head Coach Anthony Barela started playing football at the age of 8 years old. He attended Sheridan 
High School in Colorado. Coach Barela was the only player in his class to letter all four years of high school in Football, Wrestling, and Track. He was also the first Sheridan Football player to ever to be first team academic all-conference as well as first team all-conference in football. After he graduated he went to the University of Northern Colorado where he served as a football intern for the Bears. Coach Barela comes from a long line of coaches that dates back to his great grandfather who coached boxing to his father who still currently coaches basketball. He has had the privilege to have coached two state champions in track and field and Three state champions in wrestling.  He is currently the Quality Assurance Manager for Envirotest. Coach Barela is Married and lives with his wife in Englewood, CO. They are currently expecting their first child, a daughter to be named Cataleya.

He started his coaching career as the football intern at the University of Northern Colorado. From there he became the Varsity Offensive line coach at Sheridan High Coach. Before he started at Sheridan their combined record in 4 years was 2-38. By the time his tenure at Sheridan High was over their record after four years was 25-15. He then left to become the Varsity Offensive Line Coach at Denver East High School. Denver East had not made the playoffs in 10 years before the coaching staff came on. The very first year there Denver East made the playoffs. He then moved to Pinnacle Charter school and Smoky Hill high School.
Coach Barela took the job as the LCS Head football coach in 2015. He is dedicated to rebuild the program and give the community the best football program in the state of Colorado.

This community has welcomed my family with open arms and there is nowhere else I would want to be.  It is my goal to help shape young men and women for the next step in their life and become closer to the lord.
